Festivals in Austria

Don't let Austria's small size deceive you - this country sure packs in a lot of festivals! There's always a reason to party here, whether you're celebrating rock music, art, or gay pride. It's super easy to reach these festivals with an Interrail Pass valid in Austria. The country's national railway company is ÖBB, and you won't need to make reservations to ride on their domestic trains.

Nova Rock

The Pannonia Fields in eastern Austria are transformed into a rock universe thanks to the Nova Rock Festival. You can expect a full-on dose of loud and raw energy, with over 70 bands and over 175.000 people ready to rock.

The ÖBB provides special Nova Rock trains for festival-goers from Vienna Meidling to Nickelsdorf. From Nickelsdorf train station you can take one of the shuttle busses to the festival grounds.

Donauinselfest

Dates: 26 - 28 June 2020

Location: Danube Island, Vienna

The Donauinselfest is the biggest free open-air festival in Europe. Millions come together to enjoy a wide variety of music, cabaret and sport activities. With over 2,000 artists performing on a dozen different stages, there's never a dull moment.

From the city centre of Vienna you take the metro to Donauinsel, which will bring you to the island and the entrance of the festival.

Frequency Festival

Dates: 20 - 22 August 2020

Location: Greenpark St. Pölten (Lower Austria)

Headliners: Raf Camora, Bilderbuch, Kontra K, Apache 207, Loredana, Denzel Curry, Alison Wonderland

To get to Frequency Festival, you can take a train to St. Pölten, from Westbahnhof Vienna this will take approximately 30 minutes. From St. Pölten train station you can take a shuttle bus to the festival grounds.
